The affiliate marketing opportunities in this internet marketing business are varied and any affiliate can find one in which he or she can be successful. Many newbies though can’t figure out which niche to target, what are the opportunities available for them.

There is money to be made in every niche but to find one in which you can make money, you need to ask yourself a few questions. Among the affiliate marketing opportunities that exist, it’s always a good thing to pick one that suits your personality, the things you’re good at and enjoy doing.

How to choose among the affiliate marketing opportunities?

Here are 3 questions to ask yourself when choosing an niche to target:

  • What knowledge do I have of a particular niche?
  • Am I ready to write many articles about a topic and never lack inspiration?
  • Am I more confortable in promoting physical products (objects) or virtual ones (ebooks)?

Indeed, as you’ll probably do article marketing in order to promote your website and your affiliate links, you’re going to have to write a lot. But don’t worry, article marketing is easy! Anyway, there are affiliate marketing opportunities in every niche and I would highly recommend you to list the fields you know and enjoy talking about. Then, you need to look for a product related to that niche by browsing Clickbank’s marketplace for instance.

What is a good niche to target?

I would really advise you to use your personality, who you are, to create original articles, websites. That’s why keeping your approach simple and intuitive is important. Still, let me warn you. Among the affiliate marketing opportunities that you might find appealing, some are not profitable enough. The rule is simple:

  • If there is too much competition, narrow your niche. Remember to target your customers.
  • If there isn’t enough search volume and a low potential, pick another niche, no matter how passionate you are about this niche!

One last thing: Even though affiliate marketing has to be treated as a business by you if you want to succeed at it, that doesn’t mean you have to sound like a big company or be in an attitude of “selling” really.

What I mean is that sounding like you recommend something without pushing someone to buy is always the best option.   3. Nice post. The most important part is competition. Most newbies totally miss that one (including myself). Now both of my websites are dead and I don’t get much traffic :-(

    I see you recommend Wealthy Affiliate. I’ve heard of WA before but always hesitated to join it. For how long have you been a member? Is it really that great?

    I’ve been a member of WA for 2 years and I do highly recommend it. They just keep improving it you know and the training center is really helpful. Now there are some new tools as well (along with a website builder) and really awesome weekly webinars for newbies by a top affiliate marketer. Oh and today they launched the WA chat room which is great because you can get help and chat with the WA owners and top affiliate marketers there. It’s definitely a great place to learn and apply affiliate marketing. I’m really impressed even now. :)

    It is true that we should always look for more profitable niche rather than to pursue on your passion as one of my friend have said “Don’t make the money to follow you but follow the money.” by Addriene Smith which she have a point unto it too.

    Affiliate marketing sometimes sucks at first but all in all you will enjoy it and make profitable money if you pursue on your niches.

  8. Hey there! Thanks for your comment! I do agree with what you say. But I would actually say that over the time it’s good to find a niche you have a real interest in. I remember starting websites promoting something I had no real thing for and it became boring. It’s an important thing to consider especially when you start a blog within your site and need to create some good content on a regular basis.

I think in order to be successful with affiliate marketing you have to take action and keep working at it, be patient and don’t give up (no one get’s rich overnight with this, it takes time), generate a list of prospects and build relationships with your list. If people know and trust you then they are more likely to buy from you or follow thru on your product or service recommendations.
