Ok. Here’s my first post!
You know, initially, my first post was supposed to be about keyword research… but I changed my mind. Nope, you won’t escape the keyword research post, it’s on its way! lol
I just wanted to start this affiliate marketing guide by telling you a short story that happened yesterday in the community/university I’m part of. This place where I learned it all is the Wealthy Affiliate University. If you haven’t read my review of it yet, you can read it here: http://www.coolaffiliatemarketingguide.com/where-I-learned-it-all.
Within WA, each member has a profile and a blog where you’re free to post things about your improvements or share a great tool you’ve found or a thought you had about marketing or announcing the birth of your child… :) Yes, anything that matters to you and might interest other members.
Anyway, a guy called Ed posted a blog post about an eviction notice he had received informing him that he had a month to leave his appartment. That guy is broke and unemployed. He wasn’t asking anything in his post, just telling us that he had received this notice, not knowing what to do next but wanting to keep doing affiliate marketing, thinking it could be his best way to make money just like PotPieGirl did (a top marketer who started as a single mother without a penny and with children to feed).
I read his post and then read another one from someone else who was relaying Ed’s post and asking members to give some gold to Ed. Indeed, within WA, we have a currency. A WA gold is worth $.10 and can be cashed out or given away when someone helps you for example. (cf the picture above. see the sudden increase on the graph? read on…)
So I decided to write a blog post on my WA blog as well because I know many people reads it. Another member relayed my own post where I was just explaining Ed’s situation and asking whether fellow members could give him some gold.
Within 1 hour, Ed’s profile had received many visitors and there were a lot of very kind comments on his blog from members sending their thoughts and blessings and… GOLDS!
You have no idea how responding the members were. I am so pleased, so glad, so proud of our community! Of course a situation like that one doesn’t happen every day but when it does, everyone is here, willing to help, without a split second of hesitation.
That’s what I like about this community, its connection with real life, with people and this ongoing helpfulness. To me, being part of a community of internet marketers is a key factor of my success. Here’s the link to my review of Wealthy Affiliate again in case you’re interested in joining me there! :)
